FAQ

CallAnswerDesk questions

CallAnswerDesk is a free AI receptionist. Browser test calls and web chat work today; phone numbers and WhatsApp are coming soon.

What works today?
Browser test calls (from your dashboard or the public demo) and the web chat widget for your website, with booking, FAQs, messages, email alerts, transcripts and QA scores. Phone numbers and WhatsApp are coming soon.
Can I use my existing business number?
Not yet — phone numbers (Twilio, Plivo, Exotel) are coming soon. Until then, test the receptionist in your browser and put the chat on your website.
Will people know it's an AI?
The agent introduces itself as your assistant, lets people interrupt, and takes a message or hands over when they ask for a person.
Where does the AI run?
On our own GPU server first (Qwen). A hosted model is used only as a fallback if our server is busy or down. In browser test calls, speech recognition and the voice use your browser's built-in speech for now.
What does it cost?
The product is free. Browser test calls and web chat cost you nothing. When phone numbers and WhatsApp launch, you'll pay their exact cost (carrier, speech and messages) from a prepaid balance — no markup, no subscription.
Do I need a developer?
No. Pick a template, add your FAQs and calendar hours, make a test call. The API and webhooks are there if you want them.
Why free?
We want every small business to have a receptionist. We only pass on costs we can't avoid: carriers, speech and WhatsApp.
Is anything charged today?
No. Browser test calls and web chat are free. Charges start only when you connect a phone number or WhatsApp, after they launch.
What will phone calls cost?
Each call's real cost — carrier, speech-to-text, voice and AI — shown per call in your dashboard. We'll publish the rates when phone numbers launch.
Are transfers extra?
No CallAnswerDesk fee. When phone numbers launch, your carrier bills the transferred leg as usual.

Still unsure? Ask the assistant (bottom right) or try the demo.
